Our brewery is located along the Agano River, an area rich in fresh water and verdant greenery.
We were founded in 1880. The company goes by the trade name Kanbaraya.
Our signature brew, Kirin, gets its name from Kirin Castle, which once existed in the nearby Kirin Mountains. The Kirin, a giraffe-like creature in Oriental legend that is said to appear in auspicious times, gives this brew its name.
We hope our sake will inspire auspicious and propitious times for you.
A father-and-son multi-generational brewery, the team draws on their past experience as appraisers at the National Tax Agency to boldly export their products overseas and pursue unique products like long-term maturation and terroir sake with appellation of controlled origin.
