Yamamoto Honke

Brewery located in Kinki

Kamiaburakakecho, Fushimi-ku Kyoto-shi, Kyoto

Founded in 1677 under Tokugawa Ietsuna’s administration, the fourth shogun of the Tokugawa dynasty, in Fushimi, Kyoto. The business operates at the same place today.

The business has been passed down over the generations and is now run by the 11th-generation heir. The shop was once burned to the ground during the famous battle of Toba-Fushimi. The current building was rebuilt that same year and stands proudly today.

This brewery focuses on producing sake to be enjoyed with a meal, and it is informed by the long traditions of Kyoto’s culture.
